ST Engineering to deploy its smart water solution for Aegea in Brazil.

ST Engineering has revealed the implementation of its smart water platform for Aegea, a prominent private sanitation firm in Brazil that serves over 500 municipalities.

Set to be operational by the end of 2024, this platform will digitally unify Aegea’s water metering systems, improving operational efficiency, enabling data-driven enhancements, and minimizing non-revenue water losses.

Utilizing a cloud-based meter data management system, the platform will securely gather, store, and manage information from various water meters throughout Aegea’s service areas.

This intelligent, meter-agnostic system will allow for thorough, automated monitoring and control of Aegea’s entire water infrastructure. By offering real-time alerts, trend analyses, and optimization insights, the platform aims to introduce new efficiencies in Aegea’s water management practices.

“Our collaboration with Aegea comes at a pivotal moment as water demands rise due to rapid urbanization, shrinking water resources, and climate change. The smart water platform will revolutionize Aegea’s water management processes, providing essential insights that will aid in optimizing water management and significantly enhance water savings across its concessions. This partnership is crucial in tackling Brazil’s pressing need for improved water management to bolster water resilience. It also highlights our dedication to utilizing technology to promote sustainable urban living and enhance quality of life,” stated Gareth Tang, Head of Smart Utilities and Infrastructure, Urban Solutions at ST Engineering.

Eduardo Mendes, Technology Executive Officer at Aegea, remarked, “The partnership with ST Engineering aligns with Aegea’s mission to continuously pursue the most advanced technologies to boost operational efficiency and performance, focusing on enhancing the quality of services we deliver to over 31 million people across more than 500 municipalities in Brazil. These efforts contribute to our ongoing journey toward achieving universal access to sanitation in Brazil, ensuring health and dignity for the population.”

This initiative broadens ST Engineering’s portfolio, adding to its expertise in executing over 800 smart city projects across more than 150 cities worldwide.
