Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company (NWC) has launched 17 significant projects in the Eastern Province through its Eastern Cluster, with total investments surpassing 2.2 billion Saudi Riyals ($586 million).
According to a press release from the company, these initiatives are designed to improve the region’s environmental and water service infrastructure, emphasizing wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, power lines, and network upgrades to enhance service delivery across various cities and governorates.
In Al-Khobar Governorate, one of the major projects includes the expansion of the sewage treatment facility, which costs over 849 million Saudi Riyals ($226 million).
Additionally, a sewage network initiative in Al Aziziyah, valued at more than 160 million Saudi Riyals, will cater to specific systems, while the completion of the Khobar Landmark Tower’s operational works is projected to exceed 14 million Saudi Riyals. Collectively, these projects in Al-Khobar amount to around 1.02 billion Saudi Riyals.
In Al-Ahsa Governorate, six ongoing projects have a total value exceeding 496 million Saudi Riyals. These projects involve completing sewage networks in Hofuf and Al-Mubaraz to serve various districts, extending networks to new regions, and constructing a lift station and discharge line in Hofuf to mitigate environmental impacts.
NWC is also prioritizing Al Khafji Governorate, where three major projects have been initiated. These involve expanding the sewage treatment facility to double its capacity, finishing sewerage infrastructure, and replacing water networks, with a total investment exceeding 350 million Saudi Riyals.
In Jubail Governorate, two projects have started, including the construction of sewerage networks for various districts and enhancing the capacity of existing lift stations, costing over 255 million Saudi Riyals.
Further projects are underway in Qatif and Al-Qarya Al-Oliya Governorates, expanding sewage networks to serve additional areas.
NWC highlights that these initiatives are part of its continuous efforts to strengthen water distribution, prevent environmental damage, and contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by improving operational efficiency and achieving water security.
