Leading Saudi contracting company Nesma has announced that its Water & Power Engineering (WPE) division has successfully finished a turnkey water utilities project in Qiddiya, a major cultural, sports, and entertainment center, well ahead of schedule.
According to the contract from Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), the SAR287 million ($76.4 million) project was initially slated for completion in 18 months. However, Nesma WPE completed it in less than six months, as noted in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
The project involved the engineering, procurement, and construction of a potable water pumping station with a capacity of 7,500 cubic meters per day, an irrigation water pumping station, and a sewage treatment facility capable of processing 1,500 cubic meters per day. Additionally, it included a district cooling plant with a cooling load of 12,490 tonnes per day.
As part of the project, Nesma WPE also constructed a 6-kilometer-long corridor trench, a 1.8-kilometer culvert tunnel network, and installed medium voltage cables along with ICT networks.
