ACCIONA has integrated cutting-edge technologies, including drones and robots, to assess and inspect the sewer system in Bilbao. The company has successfully conducted its initial pilot inspection using this advanced technology across 11 of the 61 kilometers of sewers that are suitable for it, specifically those with diameters exceeding 80 centimeters.
Utilizing these technologies enhances the efficiency and sustainability of sewer maintenance.
The drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras that can identify blockages, leaks, and structural damage in hard-to-reach areas, allowing for quicker and more precise evaluations.
Additionally, ACCIONA employs robot dogs to explore tunnels and confined spaces. These robots are engineered to navigate tight areas and come with 360-degree cameras and AI systems that assist in detecting cracks, corrosion, or waste buildup within pipes.
These tools also contribute to occupational safety by minimizing the need for workers to enter potentially dangerous environments. Furthermore, they enhance operational efficiency by enabling real-time data collection, which helps anticipate possible failures.
Additionally, the use of these drones and robots allows for better resource management, helps prevent significant breakdowns, and reduces the environmental impact associated with emergency responses.
