ACCIONA and Sacyr Agua have joined forces to advance the Water Positive initiative, which focuses on enhancing water conservation through sustainable management and the restoration of water resources.
This initiative promotes proactive resource management, enabling companies to achieve a positive water footprint by generating more water than they consume.
The initiative emphasizes the utilization of alternative water sources, such as desalination and reuse, which are crucial for minimizing the water footprint. A company is deemed Water Positive when it produces more “new water” than it uses, both directly and indirectly, resulting in a net positive water footprint.
Through this partnership, both firms will work together to identify solutions that reduce water usage in various industries and enhance their efficiency, along with strategies to increase water reuse and improve water quality.
They will also devise plans to provide new water sources, implement certified water footprint measurement methods, and develop digital compensation tools, among other initiatives.
Combining their expertise, ACCIONA and Sacyr Agua will offer a comprehensive service throughout the entire value chain, promoting the Water Positive model in the global industrial sector.
